Adding a food

Entry has to be fast enough to keep up every day. Nurimoa combines several sources and a few shortcuts for that.

Four ways to find a food

  • Ciqual database — raw foods referenced by ANSES, with official nutritional values.
  • Barcode scanning — for packaged products, via Open Food Facts.
  • Shared foods — the ones already created and shared by the Nurimoa community.
  • AI photo analysis — snap a photo of your plate and AI detects the foods and estimates their weight. 2 free analyses per week, unlimited with Premium.

The origin badges

Every food carries a badge showing where it comes from: Ciqual,Open Food Facts, Shared (community) orcreated by you. A food from a photo also carries an AImarker. It helps you judge how reliable a nutritional value is.

Portion, units, quantity

You don't have to weigh everything. For each food you can enter a weight, a common unit (a slice, a bowl, a spoon) or set "my portion" — a reference amount of your own, remembered for your next entries.

Favourites and recurring meals (Premium)

Mark a food as a favourite to keep it at the top of your searches. Save arecurring meal to drop in a meal you have often with one tap. Both shortcuts are part of Premium.

Recipes

You can build a food from its ingredients, or convert an existing food into a recipe to spell out its composition.

Frequently asked questions

Is a food I create visible to other people?

Only if you choose to share it. By default, a food you create stays private and appears only in your own searches.

What if the scan finds nothing?

Create the food manually from the packaging (values per 100 g). It's saved and reusable afterwards, with no need to re-enter it.
