What is a food diary?
A food diary is simply a record of what you eat, meal after meal. The act of writing it down is often enough to change things: you notice portion sizes, automatic snacking and the days when balance slips. Nurimoa isn't about counting for the sake of counting — it's about making those habits visible so you can adjust them at your own pace.
Log a meal in seconds
Entry has to be fast enough to keep up every day. Nurimoa combines four ways to find a food:
- Ciqual database — thousands of raw foods referenced by ANSES, with official nutritional values.
- Barcode scanning — for packaged products, via Open Food Facts.
- Shared foods — reuse the ones already created by the Nurimoa community.
- AI photo analysis — snap a photo of your plate and AI detects the foods and estimates their weight.
Calories and macros, calculated automatically
For every meal — breakfast, lunch, dinner, snack — Nurimoa adds up calories and the protein / carbs / fat breakdown, then rolls it into a daily total. Your workouts increase your calorie budget for the day: the more you move, the more room you have.
Tracking without the frustration
Instead of an arbitrary calorie deficit, Nurimoa calculates the needs of your target weight and gives them to you as today's goal. The deficit builds itself, with no forced restriction. Same idea on the measurement side: you look at the trend over time, not a single day's weigh-in. And to step back from what you eat, the eating-habits report sums up your habits — fruit and veg, macro balance — over the week, the month or the year.
Frequently asked questions
Is the Nurimoa food diary free?
Yes. The free plan includes the food diary with no meal limit, calorie and macro tracking, and 2 AI photo analyses per week. History is kept for 30 days, and becomes unlimited with Premium.
Do I have to weigh every food?
No. You can enter a portion, a common unit (a slice, a bowl, a spoon) or let the photo analysis estimate what's on the plate. Precise weighing is available if you want it, but it's never required.
Can I track my protein and carbs?
Yes. Every meal shows a breakdown of calories, protein, carbs and fat, with a daily total so you can see where your intake stands.
How do I find a food quickly?
Four sources are combined: the ANSES Ciqual database, barcode scanning via Open Food Facts, foods shared by the Nurimoa community, and AI analysis of a photo.
