Where the base budget comes from
The base budget is your daily calorie goal, set in your profile and calculated from the needs of your target weight. It's what you can eat on days with no logged activity.
Exercise grows the budget
Every activity you log in the journal adds to the day's budget:
- Day's budget = base budget + calories from your activities
The more you move, the more you can eat: you burn more without eating less. If you've set a macronutrient split, your carb, fat and protein targets go up with activities too.
The badges under each meal
Under a meal, a badge places it within the day — useful when a single meal is heavy:
- Reasonable share — the meal stays within a normal proportion of the day's budget, for calories and macros alike.
- A lot of calories / carbs / fat / protein — on its own, this meal takes a big share of the day's budget on one or more of them (around 45% of the day's target).
- Very rich meal, day's budget almost used up — when nearly the whole budget goes into this one meal.
It's not an alarm: just a cue to rebalance the following meals if you want to.
Frequently asked questions
What happens if I go over my budget?
Nothing locks. The budget is a goal, not a hard limit: the point is to understand your habits over time, not to “pass” every single day.
Do the badges show without a calorie goal?
No. Until your calorie goal and your macronutrient split are set in your profile, no badge appears under meals.
